Tax Liens - no longer part of Credit Reports from all Major Credit Bureaus

March 26, 2018

TransUnion one of the nationwide credit reporting agencies has announced that it will cease reporting tax lien information on it's credit reports starting the week of April 16, 2018 to meet the standards of "NCAP" - the National Consumer Assistance Plan put unto place in 2017 by the 3 major nationwide credit reporting agencies.

Equifax and Experian, the other 2 major credit reporting agencies are epected to follow suit removing tax liens in April 2018. Because of the new policies, AAA Credit Screening Services clients will no longer see tax lien information on the credit reports ordered.

Tax liens can be useful in determining wage garnishements which is an indicator of an individual's inability to pay new debts despite having a sufficient income or debt level that would suggest otherwise.

If AAA Credit Screening clients are concerned about this gap in reporting, they can still obtain tax lien information by ordering a County Civil Report that will provide them with information regarding claims, suits, judgements and tax liens against individuals or corporations filed by other individuals or corporations.
