AAA Credit Screening Services is an E-Verify employer agent able to run I-9 verifications on behalf of employers as part of the employment screening process.

What is I-9 Verification?

"Form I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. All U.S. employers must ensure proper completion of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens."

Why is I-9 Verification Important?

The law requires that employers verify the identity and employment eligibility of all their employees. If companies fail to do so, they can be found in violation and held liable under civil and criminal penalties. The law also requires employers to maintain the original I-9 forms for all current employees (for former employees - 3 years from the date of hire or 1 year after they leave, whichever is longer) in case they are called for inspection.

Not maintaining proper I-9 forms may lead to the employer being fined for violations in maintaining records. Employers that are knowingly hiring and continuing to employ ineligible workers can be fined and barred from federal contracts and government benefits.

• Penalties for failing to produce I-9 forms range from $110 to $1,100 per violation.

• Penalties for knowingly hiring and continuing to employ ineligible workers range from $375 to $16,000 per violation.

What do I need to provide to start running I-9 Verifications?

The following information is required to get signed up to start running I-9 verifications:

• Company name

• Full physical address

• Mailing address if different from physical address

• Employer ID (EIN)

• Total number of employees

• Total Employer Sites

• NIACS code

• Company point of contact (full name and e-mail address)
