Earlier in 2019, Fox Business pointed to an article about a study that was conducted by interviewing the millennial & Generation Z age ranges and it was concluded they are much more likely to lie on their resumes than previous generations. In fact, more than 1 out of 10 job applicants born between 1981 & 2010 admitted to some type of resume fraud.

A blind survey about resume deception was conducted within the tech industry and revealed that 1 out of 10 applicants embellished or lie on their LinkedIn or resume to gain another job. They surveyed 10,000 tech-industry employees. Unfortunately, it was also discovered that dishonesty in the form of falsified documentation is becoming more common.

What are applicants lying about? According to Fox Business, more than 1 in 3 resume falsifiers admitted to altering their job experience & dates of employment. Almost 1/2 of the survey's respondents that lied on their resumes admitted that they had no intention to stop lying or misrepresenting themselves.

This is alarming information for employers and hiring managers since relavant work experience and an applicant's employment dates are an essential part of determining the best candidates for their open positions.
